Does Vaping count as being a smoker when it comes to Life Insurance?
The good news is there is one UK insurer who is currently offering reduced premiums to people who use e-cigarettes or who vape. If fact most quotes we have looked at, offer the cover at almost the same cost as if they were non-smoker’s. For most insurers, a non-smoker is someone who hasn’t used tobacco, or nicotine replacement products in the last 12 months.
This means you might be able to save money if you currently have a life insurance policy which you arranged on ‘smoker’s rates’.

Here is a recent case study where we helped an existing client of ours make huge savings on his life insurance policy.
We have been speaking to a 41 year old gentleman who has been looking for life insurance to protect his mortgage.
He required £250,000 of cover over a 27 year term. He does not smoke cigarettes but has been vaping since about 2013.
Most companies would still count our client as a smoker and charge approximately £42.45 per month. However there is now one insurance company which will offer non-smokers rates to those who have not smoked tobacco products in over 12 months, even if they are still using nicotine replacements.
As the premium was over a third cheaper than it would be on normal smokers rates, the client was happy to apply. He was able to obtain a level term assurance of £250,000 over a 27 year term for only £27.48 per month, saving himself over £4,800 over the term of the policy.
