Can I get Life Insurance having had Tongue Cancer?

Our process

When a client has a pre-existing condition, or has suffered a serious illness in the past, the first thing we do is pick up the phone. We speak to Underwriters at many of the UK’s leading Insurance companies. Discussing all of our client’s medical history helps us to identify the best company to apply to. This also means we avoid applying to companies who will end up being too expensive or worse, decline an application. By completing our research thoroughly, we are able to avoid wasting time and obtain the best terms possible for our clients.

Our Case Study

Our client, Mr L, a 63 year old non-smoker, contacted us as he required life insurance for the purpose of providing a cash sum for his family, should he pass away . He wanted cover for the maximum length of time possible.

Whole of Life cover was beyond his maximum budget and so we agreed that a policy until his 90th birthday would best suit his need and pocket.

However, Mr L has experienced problems in arranging life insurance because he had Tongue Cancer in 2011, where he had undergone radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Each Insurance Provider has their own underwriting stance on this medical disclosure and we contacted them all to find the best solution.

Many of the providers will double the initial premium and some not offer any cover at all. However, we found one company that were willing to provide cover with a premium increase of £9.30 per month on top of the initial premium. This would be for the first two years, after which time the premium would revert to the initial ‘unloaded’ premium.

Mr L, was pleased that we were able to arrange an indexed linked life and terminal illness policy with a sum assured of £15,000 until his 90th birthday for a monthly premium of £26.99 that will reduce to £17.69 after the first two years.
