Can I get life insurance if I work in Saudi Arabia?
We were recently approached by a 35 year old (smoker) who works as an engineer in the oil and gas industry. He was hoping to arrange some life cover to help protect the mortgage that he and his wife were in the process of organising.
He told us that his job involved him working in Saudi Arabia for up to 6 months a year.
In our experience some insurers may load (make an increase on top of the original premium quoted) or decline this type of application, so after completing some research we established which insurers were likely to offer our client the cover on standard terms (no increases on top of the basic premium).
We were delighted to help out client and his wife arrange a joint decreasing life or earlier terminal illness policy with an initial sum assured of £210,000 over a term of 29 years for a monthly premium of £25.80.
Please note that any premiums mentioned are indicative only and based on this specific case study/ example, which is shown for information purposes only. Your own circumstances will determine whether the amount payable is more or less than the figure quoted.
Both clients had critical illness cover which we had previously arranged for them (for personal and family protection). We advised them to keep this cover in place as it represented good value for money and it was organised before he accepted a job which involved working in Saudi Arabia. A client is under no obligation to inform the insurance company in the event a change in occupation, life style or health, subsequent to arranging a life or critical illness policy. It should be noted that if you have an Income Protection policy and your circumstances change you should discuss this with an adviser or with your insurer.
