Can I get Life Insurance after having Kidney Cancer?
We were recently contacted by a 66-year-old lady, who wanted to arrange a Life Insurance policy to provide long term family protection. During our initial fact find, she told us that she had been diagnosed with Kidney Cancer in 2006.
Kidney cancer is also called renal cancer, is one of the most common types of cancer in the UK.
It usually affects adults in their 60s or 70s, so it’s rare in people under 50. However, it can usually be cured if it is found early and has not spread beyond the kidney itself. Source: NHS Dec 2019
In our client’s case, the affected kidney was removed, and no further treatment was required.
Our client is now fully recovered so we began our research process.

We applied to a major insurer for a life insurance policy with a sum assured of £20,000, until she reaches her 90th birthday. The insurer then requested a GP report, and based on this information, she was accepted on standard terms (no increases on top of the quoted premium). The monthly premium offered to her was £29.40, and she was delighted to accept the policy.
